Ponte Vecchio

Ponte Vecchio a Firenze

I still want to write about Florence’s Ponte Vecchio.

It’s an architectural work I’ve seen for over 40
years, crossing the Santa Trinita Bridge, located on its western side.

I see it every day, morning andevening.

I see it in the morning light with the sun behind it, or in the evening at sunset with the
moon rising in the background.

I see it in the darkness of late evening with the lights of the houses
and streetlights.

I see it with the sky full of dark clouds swollen with water and the river in flood, and I see it in the fog where the outline of the bridge can barely be seen.

I’ve stopped to photograph it many times, and what amazes me is that Ponte Vecchio, in all its
different situations, always holds an enormous charm.

The two large wooden inlay panels depicting the Ponte Vecchio were made several years ago by my
son Davide.
