Luigi’s Workshop

La bottega di Luigi

Luigi’s story in this workshop across from me dates back to the 1960s, when he specialized in wood
carving and gilding. Luigi and I remained face to face until, at the age of 88, he too had to close.
I like to remember his great tenacity and passion for his work.
These two photos speak for themselves. The workshop has now been emptied and is waiting for its
final journey to remove the last things, a matter of hours.
While he waits, he doesn’t stop, taking advantage of the opportunity to finish a small job.
I never considered Luigi old because his spirit was and still is young.
Now he’s organized in his garage and still does some small jobs, because that’s in Luigi’s spirit and
the spirit of artisans.
